Version History

v1.6.0

  • Made available 7/17/2026
  • NEW: Deinterlacing videos! A new main menu utility allows you to deinterlace videos, using one of numerous reconstruction algorithms, previewing a 3 sec sample to test different options before exporting. Additionally, there is a reverse telecine system in Beta, which I’ll continue to enhance as I get more feedback.
  • NEW: MKV and WEBM data track extraction! Although MKV and WEBM is not natively supported, a new main menu utility allows you to probe the video, audio, subtitle and extra sidecar tracks contained within, and if compatible, extract out into .MOV or as individual assets. I started with the most commonly used and supported codecs and will continue to explore others. As such, this utility is in Beta.
  • NEW: Welcome message and onboarding overview now pops up the first time you load a video. It’s pretty detailed, so you can also refer back to it in the Help menu.
  • NEW: Create Empty Video main menu utility generates an empty video of either black .mp4 or transparent .mov of a given length. Can be used to generate padding between merged clips.
  • Updated: Text Overlay clip controls have been redone and grouped into four smaller sections. Features, such as font outline, a better layout and padding system, and the ability to extend the background the full width of the video, has been added. It’s much easier to create great looking subtitles or lower thirds now!
  • Updated: A big sweep through timing and frame rate, fixing a number of core subsystems that could lead to dropped frames or misaligned timelines. In short, it should all work better… clipping, visualizing and exporting!
  • Updated: Zoom controls were updated and made more user friendly and feel more polished.
  • Updated: Audio to Video utility now allows for a black or transparent video to be created out of an audio file, as .mp4 or .mov.
  • Updated: Unsupported video types are now validated to a greater degree on import, and if loading an unsupported video type like .mkv or .webm you’ll get a prompt, as opposed to the file being added to the videos list but uneditable.
  • Bug Fixed: Old project files are more backwards compatible, or fail gracefully, providing better feedback if so.

v1.4.2

  • Made available 6/10/2026
  • Bug Fixed: Capture audio could default to the wrong audio source when capturing. It now correctly initializes to the same source as the video capture device.
  • Bug Fixed: Capture video could start mid frame and capture a partial black frame at the beginning. I now disregard the first five valid frames and begin capturing after that initialization.
  • Bug Fixed: Commercial Break Detection could hiccup from bad audio data or multiple videos processing audio, showing the placeholder audio is processing view again when it shouldn’t. This has been made more robust.

v1.4.0

  • Made available 5/22/2026
  • NEW: Video capture! Now you can capture video from any camera source your system recognizes as a video feed! (your VCR to USB, Webcam, even your iPhone) Configure the device to output in the resolution and frame rate you want, configure the export resolution and quality, then stream as .mp4 or .mov directly to your drive. A live preview shows how the interplay of device and export aspect ratios affect each other (ie. if it’s going to letterbox, what it’ll look like), as well as an active file size counter while recording. Upscaled 16:9 stretched VCR feeds can also be saved directly as corrected 4:3.
  • Updated:  Minimum Clip Length in the Commercial Break Detection used to only clip when the total search length exceeded the minimum. This caused short clips to be grouped together instead of skipped. This has been updated to entirely skip short clips and not append them to longer valid clips.
  • Updated:  Now uses one explicit working RGB space, sRGB, and one explicit output color space: Rec.709 primaries / transfer / YCbCr matrix. Related tools, like luminance remapping, have been updated to work more consistently.
  • Bug Fixed: Commercial Break Detection was misrepresenting frame luminance, causing clipping in incorrect locations. Additionally, the Find Next button would occasionally get into a bad logic loop. Frame brightness has been corrected and break detection is more accurate now.
  • Bug Fixed: HEVC codec was causing a hang on export. This has been corrected and HEVC .mov codec now honored.
  • Bug Fixed: Merging clips with and without audio tracks had some odd behaviors, especially clipping from a region without audio when the beginning had audio. Extreme edge cases, but clips with and without audio should play nicer in the export pipeline.

v1.3.4

  • Made available 5/1/2026
  • NEW: Pop out video player preview into a detached window! You can easily scale the window to the intended export size.
  • Updated:  Commercial Break Detection no longer blocked by audio cache analysis! Audio cache is streamed in allowing for near instant access to auto-clipping commercials! A yellow indicator can now be seen on the video timeline representing progress for the audio caching, for better context in audio caching progress.
  • Updated:  Clip Flair (clip background coloring) controls were in Settings, but have been brought into the Commercial Break Detection controls for easier access and use.
  • Bug Fixed: Advanced Settings Clip Flair coloring Add button allows for 0 max duration if min > 0, was accidentally blocking fallback coloring with a min <= max check, despite a 0 max meaning infinite.
  • Bug Fixed: Scrubbing on video timeline when a clip is selected now correctly moves the clip timeline cursor.
  • Bug Fixed: Deleting a video when a clip is selected no longer drops the app into an oddly semi non-responsive state for other videos.
  • Bug Fixed: Graphic EQ scales and is aligned better now for non 4:3 and higher resolution videos

v1.3.3

  • Made available 4/22/2026
  • Updated: Audio to Video converter in main menu converted to transparent ProRes 4444 .MOV... which is a complete waste of memory with a 3 min song becoming a 1 Gb empty video. Instead, it now converts to .MP4 with a black background... and is tested to be around 3 Mb for a 3 min song. Yeah. Much better.
  • Bug Fixed: Clip adjustment controls has some inconsistent behavior with absorbing neighboring clips. (Silly copy & paste bug.)
  • Bug Fixed: Clip background coloring based on clip length is not working. You can set the colors in the Advanced section of the App Settings, but they are not applied to the list of clips in the clips queue. (Temp test bypass code was accidentally left in. Derp.)
  • Some minor UI changes to the clip export controls to clarify use and workflow.

v1.3.2

  • Initially launched on the Apple Mac App Store April 15th, 2026.
